The boot of a train
Screws rattle loose
Rock me outta my mind
Subtle sly byrds
Twang me a tune
Of the banjo fiddle kind
Chop wood
Draw breath
Sing
An ol’ time anthem
To lull you down
And lure you in
Belles play many string kinds
Each one three
Snow piles high
Deep in my mind
So thick
You can’t see me
His voice pierces
The bourbon curtain
And rattles like the screws
Loose
In his head
As on the tracks
A Wynter Show
whispers Goodnight
But it doesn’t catch
Your ear
It’s lost
In a blanket of white
