Can You Hear Me? Social Networking & Your Fans- Mary Magpie

Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, AIM. Even iTunes makes genius playlists so you can listen to music similar to your interests. Half the bands I listen to I’ve heard of from a website.
Nowadays, bands are more drawn to the internet than anything else. They even livestream their concerts. It’s a great way to
get more fans, but are they losing touch with fans?
While the fans follow every little detail about what a band is doing while the fans are commenting about “that’s so funny!” “lol!” but are the bands reading the comments? You never know. I’ve been responded to, unread, and ignored. Social media has affected music as we knew it.
If we can hear you, can you hear us?   If you hear us, are you listening?  Interaction with fans is two ways or otherwise its nothing more than an act.  Your fans become voyeurs if you dont hollah back.
