Campfire In Honor Of Joe Strummer: Two Dates Left for 2010

If you saw the Joe Strummer biography “The Future Is Not Yet Written”, you may remember that towards the end of the movie, Joe’s Campfire get togethers where friends and family sat around a big campfire organized by Strummer and swapped songs and stories through the wee hours.
At Glastonury this year, Strummerville (the Strummer estate) made a Campfire in his memory that remained night and day throughout the entire festival and which anybody who wanted to could join.
According to clash.com (no relation), among those who played intimate sets were: “The Drums, Frank Turner, The Mystery Jets, I Blame Coco, Fionn Regan, Mariachi El Bronx, Beans On Toast, Ali Love, Nat Jenkins.”
This has been followed by additional Campfires: “Secret Garden Party (22nd – 25th July) followed by Endorse It In Dorset (6th – 8th August), and finally Strummerville’s very own party at Notting Hill Carnival (21st August)”. Hardly coincidentally, Joe’s birthday.
This has been described as a totally magical experience. So Helen, pack your bag pack, leave the husband and kid for the weekend, and let’s go!!!
