Busy Ray Davies by Mike Nessing

No less than three seperate projects are emerging on the horizon for perennial Rock NYC fave Ray Davies. First , ANOTHER record of re-recorded Kinks songs, but with an all star guest cast including Springsteen, BonJovi, Lucinda Williams, The Killers, and possibly Metallica. This appears to be on the front burner with a fall 2010 release anticipated. It will be a type of “Duets” album reportedly and we will have our ears to the ground for more info as far as who else may be on the record. (Please Chrissie Hynde Please)… Bruce is singing Better Days with Ray, and Jon will lend his growly pipes to “Celluliod Heroes.

Davies has also promised a new solo record as he claims to be writing again.

Lastly, with Mick Avory officially back in the fold some sort of Kinks project is imminent. Ray and Mick are in the process of sifting through the vaults for Kinks material recorded prior to Dave Davies’s 2004 stroke. Moreover, the younger Davies condition has apparently improved to the point where he may actually be involved with the project if he so chooses. Ray has put the ball squarely in Dave’s court, but anybody who read the Dave Davies interview that we posted here a few months ago from Thirsty.com knows it goes much deeper than that.

Ray kicks off an acoustic mini-tour tonight in Atlantic City.
