The Promise – Bruce Springsteen – “Johnny works in a factory and Terry works downtown…” Sure, it is a cliche. And, sure, it ain’t a great song which is one reason why it didn’t make it onto Darkness On the Edge Of Town. BUT it wasn’t a cliche when he wrote it. And none are these 3rd tier songs off a great, great album.
My Christmas EP – Ronnie Spector – Ronnie sounds great, the songs a little less so.
In Session – Stevie Ray And Albert King – If you love this stuff, King is pure Chicago and Stevie Ray a budding master in the works. If you don’t love this stuff, and I don’t, you’ll love this.
Captured Anthems for an Empty Bathtub + Anthems for the Could’ve Bin Pills – K.C. Accidental – Fuzzy power pop by embryonic Broken Social Scene
Live In New York – the Dave Matthews Band – Not one single redeeming feature to this live from Citi field bore. Worst thing of all? His fucking voice.
Sports – Weekend – Sure “Coma Summer” is the keeper, but everything here is pretty damn good.
Triggers – Sub Swara – I keep claiming to be a dance fiend and I am but mostly for bpms on synth hooks. Everyone from Flying Lotus to Sub Swara leave me a little blah.
Nothin’ but a Good Time – The Poison Collection – Poison -Or as we know and love it, the bottom of the barrel
