Yesterday, the Broken Bells duo announced on twitter a new song, ‘Meyrin Fields’, and after some checking it seemed that this song was in fact not completely new, but an extra track appearing as a B-side of the 2009 ’The Ghost Inside’ single. However, they were debuting it on myspace.
The song moves by angry electronic waves that progressively and aggressively beat James Mercer’s anxious voice which inspires fear and urgency.
There is in fact a sense of emergency all along the song which appears to culminate when the powerful vocals come into a series of short ripples and seem to run away above some scared keyboard and agitated percussion.
