Bret Michaels, Well Wishes and Great Memories – By Todd Leibowitz

Poison was my childhood’s favorite band. Still today, they are my favorite band. They are the band that I probably have seen the most in concert. They are the band that every time I hear one of their songs come on my Ipod or the radio, I have to turn it up – fast song or ballad, it doesn’t matter. They are the band that always wants to party and have “Nothing but A Good Time”.

They just bring it on with songs from “I Want Action” to “Fallen Angel” to “Unskinny Bop” to “Every Rose Has Its Thorn”.

I last saw them live two years ago at Jones Beach. As usual, they put on the same show year after year, but for some reason, it never gets old. It just great party
 rock n roll.

All that came crashing down this week when we heard the horrible news of lead singer Bret Michaels being rushed to intensive care with a brain hemorrhage. Needless to say I was very saddened and shocked when I heard this news. Just two weeks ago, Michaels had an emergency appendix operation. After that operation he was in good sprits and looking forward to resuming his tour.

Michaels as a kid was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I read in the past he would have to take insulin shots right before he hit the stage. The people in the crowd would never have known about this, because when the lights went down, Bret and the Poison boys would rock the night for the next 2 hours without any indication of Bret’s diabetic past.

As of now, no reports are saying exactly which hospital Bret is in. There are various reports saying that he is stable, but the next 48 hours is very critical. I will post more once news comes out of where ever he is – good or bad.

In the meantime, lets just all think about Bret and his family and wish him the best
