Blogging isn’t editing a magazine, it isn’t being a great writer, it is keeping a public diary and in my case keeping a public diary about music.
I woke up this morning and decided to read some of Keith Richard’s auto bio “Life” and that lead me to buy a coupla Jimmy Reed tracks. Why wouldn’t I own Jimmy Reed tracks you ask? Because I am not a blues fan and for no better reason than because than that, despite blokes likes Big Bill Bronski begeinning more than just names too me, they still ain’t names that send a chill through me like, say, Chuck Berry.
Keith will call the blues, jazz with a backbeat and compare Mick Jagger’s harp playing with Louis Armstront. Which is, like, well, interesting, right.
So then I polished off the Exile On Mainstreet outtakes from May of this year. Guess what the outtakes sounded like? Wanna guess? Blues, every single one.
Not a song as good as “Rocks Off” ps.
Will I check out the Stones if they play in 2011. Damn straight I will.
Anyway, they are tons better than the Darkness On The Edge Of Town ones.
I don’t think you can run a rock and roll blog without being a Stones obsessive.
