Following the tragedy in Oklahoma recently, Blink-182 has stepped up and are using their fame for a good cause.
They’re auctioning off signed items on eBay. Â 100% of all proceeds go to benefit those in OK. Â This has to be one of the coolest things ever. Â That’s so thoughtful of them, giving up money they could be using to buy things for themselves or the band and donating it to those who really need it; the world needs more of that.
Included in the list of items being sold is a limited edition painted Blink bunny- the current highest bid is above 1 thousand dollars. Â A lot of people are getting on this. Â Blink knows that their star power can make any signed item infinitely more expensive, let alone memorabilia symbolic of the band themselves.
Also, a tour poster signed by the band is going for a bit over $400 now. Â The best, though? Â Mark Hoppus signature bass signed by Mark and Travis. Â Take your guess how much it’s worth, cos I bet you wouldn’t assume $2,175.
Musicians who want to make a difference in a community that is not their own and selflessly give is a wonderful thing, regardless of whether or not you assume they’re doing it for the press. Â What Blink 182 has done was recognise that they could make a serious difference, which this auction will do. Â However much money they end up raising, it will certainly be helpful to those in Oklahoma. Â This has made me gain some serious respect for the band, and it sets the bar higher for others in the scene to take a stand as well.
