Billy Joel For New Year's Eve!!!

We love him just the way he is

So, how have my New Year’s Eve’s been, you ask? Well, pretty lousy to be absolutely honest….

2008-2009 – My Morning jacket – Madison Square Garden, – Pre rock nyc, and My Morning Jacket  played their best concert ever, a  dazzling mix of Mayfield funk and hard rock Southern jam that left you blown away – A

2009-2010 – Mariah Carey – Madison Square Garden – Mariah was drunk, or at least tipsy, and the show was so lazy it put you to sleep. Trey Songz makes me throw up in my mouth – D+

2010-2011 – Chuck Berry – BB King’s – Let me give you a clue, if you ever wanna go to Time’s Square for the ball drop, invest a hundred bucks in a tix to Bb Kings and watch the crowds part for you. CB on the other hand… look it is Chuck, man, if you don’t wanna see him, don’t buy a ticket – B

2011-2012 – I had a ticket to Gov’t Mule at Beacon Theater and got sick and missed it.

2012–2013  – Jay Z and Coldplay – Coldplay are a lousy live band except when they are doing like 20 minutes of music, like for a super short set they are fun but otherwise? I don’t think so. This was an hour and Jay-Z, who would be so terrific this summer, barely 8 months later, prolly had his mind on take out Chinese at 20/20 – C-

Which leads us to 2013-2014 and Billy Joel at Barclay Center. The last time I saw Billy was at the 12-12-12 gig, and the time before that the closing of Shea Stadium. He was terrific in one and not terrible in another but absolutely the perfect way to take out (or bring in) 2013 – 2014. With no new material to peddle, you know you’re getting the hits and whether dealing with a bottle of red or otherwise, he will be up for it yet again
