I was not there, I can’t tell what happened but I saw him a few years ago and he was really nice and adorable, offering red roses to the women who were sitting front row.
Let me guess, the ‘fuck off if you don’t want to be here’ could well have been directed to people who have the nasty habit to continue their incessant chatting during a show, I have seen this so may times, but the LAWeekly also said it was caused by his displeasure with the quality of sound, so why was is cursing at the crowd???
This is what I have found, told by people who were at the show:
– He was angry about the sound, but the audience was telling him that he sounded great, that nothing was wrong
– He continued complaining about the sound, and even threw his harmonica stand onto the stage. He even said he would never play at the Troubadour again, or even live again!
– He said that may be he should leave, to what someone in the crowd said that may be everyone should leave, to what he replied by the c-word
– He swore a lot, even threatened people saying he’d fight anyone who would come up on stage, and swore even more, using the f-word, the c-word, the b-word,… who did he think he was, Anton Newcombe?
– He walked off stage
– He returned after 15 minutes and played again, but he went back to complain, saying he has to play these songs even though he is so angry now, saying he did not want to be there, questioning his career choice with ‘Why tour America when nobody’s buying the record? I should just open a shop somewhere’!
– He eventually apologized, but many people had left by this time.
– He even hugged people during the last song!!
Wow this show was a little tragedy by itself, a meltdown? No! It had all the epic acts of a Shakespearian play, the fall down and the redemption,… I should have gone,… of course, I would have stayed till the end, and I would have given him a chocolate cookie or something.
