Artists Vs Poets: The Fix Is In By Mary Magpie

Artist Vs Poet, a band which I have loved since their first EP, came out with a new album Favorite Fix. Eager, I downloaded it to my iPod. I came to a huge realization: they have evolved so incredibly much.

“Car Crash” is not the same band I fell in love with-it’s a better one. Perfect vocals, and untouchable melodies, AVP captivates you until the end.

The second track, “Adorable”, is…well…adorable. The lyrics, the innocence of the music as a whole, and it’s catchiness makes you smile. It’s almost weird, but AVP does it, pulls it off, and it’s impressing.

“Favorite Fix” is a great dance song. Almost like old Boys Like Girls with a bit of All Time Low, and a dash of another band that I can’t name. The sound is so different that it is unusually better than old AVP somehow.

“He’s Just Not Me” is a track to dance around to in your bedroom after a horrible day. Mood-lifting and easy to listen to, it’s no wonder why it is my favourite track on the entire album. So original and addictive, the song is like nothing I’ve heard before.

The last song, “Giving Yourself Away”, is a great song to be the last track. It leaves you wanting more, but is satisfying at the same time. It’s a song that you have to read the lyrics and listen to the song and it’ll mean something to you.

Artist Vs. Poet is maturing, and it’s obvious. Equally talented if not more, growing more and more unique, and becoming a band that could easily headline a big tour. I hope that Artist Vs. Poet only goes up from here. They could just be everyone’s new favourite fix.
