Bono emailed Jon Parales this blurb for his godawful interview Arcade Fire in yesterdays New York times: “As quiet a storm as they would like this album to appear, it still contains all the big themes and ideas that make all around them appear so vapid.”
We have a saying for this kinda stuff where I come from: the kiss of death.
From the first quote, where the band sings happy birthday to an assistant to the last paragraph, where a bunch of kids busking don’t want Arcade Fire to play with them, the completely insufferable Wim Butler attempts to kill his reputationas a first class asshole and fails miserably.
Thinking what you want about the music, and I love the band, the man is an egocentric and needs to watch himself. he is the sort of berk, Bono would give am endorsement to.
