One of the coolest things about being a ‘Blogger” is that I can say whatever I want and I really have no censor.
As of late I have spent alot of time hating stuff.
There is alot to hate and don’t worry I will discover tons more to spew about in a minute or so.
We slam Rolling Stone and its writers all the time.
Its a joke its not even music – its a shell of what it was.
I promise you the song “Rolling Stone” would never be written today
Why would it when rarely do musicians make the cover?
There is NME and Revolver and Spin and there is my main pulp… Alternative Press.
Altpress is the who’s who and who will be of alternative music.
Say what you will about bands like Hey Monday and Emmure but the fact is they are out there and Alt Press gives them the attention they deserve.
I have subscribed for years.
I am 44 years old own a home have a rather serious ‘day job’
(which I will keep so spare me the ‘keep your day job”, shit).
Mary Magpie my wonderful child is 14 years old an honors student a talented actress and musician and this one publication can speak to both of us.
Writers are not ‘dumbing it down’ or ‘trying to be hip’ they report in honest and consistent words that convey whats happening and offers options.
I am not bombarded by advertising for Condoms and sex couches (seriously RS wtf with that freak ass has beens you’re not the Advocate). I get a dash of style tons of tour information and articles that aren’t about the fucking war but about music and the bands that make it.
Alternative Press is a fanzine who’s leaders are real people who aren’t afraid to interact with their customer. After a random tweet about a screwed up subscription renewal Editor in Chief Jason Pettigrew, took it upon himself to personally get ‘ the deets’ from me.
What the hell?
Would Nick Catuccci pursue that (wait is he the editor in chief of RS still?)of course not
Yet Pettigrew is like my new best friend.
I am stunned at his professionalism and his sincerity.
So before this becomes a big stroke lets capsulize shall we?
Alternative Press is the only music magazine that matters if you are an alternative music fan.
Informative, thought provoking, promoting music on every level from bands like MCR to unsigneds that they think you should know about.
The brass are real people with real integrity.
Which is more than I can say for most magazines.
