Album Round Up

Relax – Das Racist  – I guess the Taco bell-Pizza Hut funny guys aren't joking any more. The title track have the intricate beats you expect from Diplo, "Michael Jackson" is a weird thought chasing its own tail, "Girl" is a Caribbean multi rhythmic thing of wonder. It gets a little samey but it ain't silly, it's smart. Grade: B+

Barefoot Blue Jean Night – Jake Owen – OK, here is where these country boys stop be cute. generic country seducer needs to write better songs. Grade: C-

I And Love And You – The Avett Brothers – This is about as beautiful a folk rock as you'll ever hear. Sometimes you wish they'd pick up the pace a bit but there is a dignified grace to it. Grade: B+

In The Grace Of Your Love – The Rapture – From Gang of Four to the Verve in ten years. This is melodic, symphonic rock, Limey style. Grade: B+

Pear Jam Live – Anybody remember when Pearl Jam released a CD of every concert they did ? I got an  MSG one and Eddie was a little drunk and it was magnificent. One of the best Baba O'reilly's I've ever heard. So what do I need this for? Grade: B

Hurricane Dub – Grace Jones – A true dub version of her last album and, much like the woman herself, a strange work of beauty. Grade: B+
