HELL yes this morning I was gifted Hurley and this day can not get me down. I loved Raditude, but I freakin insanely love Hurley
I don’t understand how anyone could dislike this album or even bother to compare it and analyze it.
The flow the words the entire vibe is so magically Weezer that there really is no point in dissection.
Look you either get it- or you don’t.
Lyrically still the self depreciating boys stuck in a locker. Rivers is lucky his voice doesn’t age cuz this played at 40 would be sorta creepy,

Trainwrecks (the story of our lives) is every dorks anthem. Sing it and be proud.
I cant express to you how happy they’re still Weezer. Theres so much realism to the words. Even as a grown up just the simplistic tones are so endearing. When Rivers gets croony, the cracking voice just makes you want to make him some soup or something. Hes the perpetual 14 year old.
Yet musically there is a real depth. In “Unbroken”, theres some fantastic tempo changes. So if Rivers is the boy, the band are the older uncles keeping it in line.
Although “My Sex’ is a bit brow furrowing, its still got a nice guitar grunge to it. “Gosh Dang this is Great!”
I find it amusing that some Weezer fans have to digest this. They have to stop and think and repeat. Face it, Weezer has a recipe that works.
They’re getting a bit weird with the ‘featuring’ things and the mad rappers and such on their videos but listing and not looking is as comforting as a well worn sweater… no pun intended.
I have no complaints.. well one “Memories” sorta sucks. But just cuz that opens Hurley is no reason to not keep going. Seriously just FF by that, it was an accident.

Suddenly Rivers cuts to the chase and and its fascinatingly timely. “Brave New World”, “Smart Girls”..amazing.
Let alone I have the DELUXE version so I have an adorable rendition of “Viva La Vida” and a ‘Rocked Out’ version of “Represent”
This will get some insane repetitive play from me. Its just better and better the more I hear it.
So lets file this shall we?
Lyrically brilliant- really viable scenarios, sung with innocence and simplicity.
Musically strong- mature diverse and intricately complimentary.
What the hell else could you want in recorded music?
