I have never seen Drake headline a show and I am thrilled at the opportunity even if I am not thrilled with Nothing Was The Same, I can’t wait to see if Drake can bring it on stage at the Prudential Center this Sunday. Based on his SNL performance I am expecting very big things.
Monday – 3Oh!3 – Gramercy Theater – MTV buzz band have been around forever and always a lot of electronic pop fun
Monday – Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin – Webster Hall – Debatably the best indie pop band in the world todayy, their latest Fly By Wire is terrific.
Tuesday – Anything We Want: Fiona Apple & Blake Mills – Beacon Theater – The setlist was a bit iffy and if you boo her she’ll have a nervous breakdown but still… who can resist it?
Tuesday – Cold War Kids – Terminal 5 – Don’t make a mosh pit or they’ll cry
Tuesday – Noah And The Whale – Webster Hall – Laura Marling’s ex? Well, he has one classic album under his belt
Tuesday – Franz Ferdinand – Hammerstein Ballroom – Better these guys than Arctic Monkeys any day
Wednesday – Fitz And The Tantrums – Roseland – If you must say goodbye to the venue, check out these dance guys, one of the best live bands around.
Wednesday – Robin Thicke – Highline Ballroom At the Highline… wait, at the Highline?
Wednesday – The Black Crowes – Terminal 5 – Four nights, none sold out.
Thursday – Simple Minds – Roseland – Sure had their moments, 30 years ago. But still, it was some moment.
Friday – Kurt Vile And The Violators – Terminal 5 – He was pretty terrific when I saw him two years ago at Summerstage… turn us down for an interview but I forgive him.
Friday – Lamb Of God – Roseland – I only saw em once but hey, they blew Metallica off stage that once.
Friday – The Julie Ruin – MHOW – The debut album is pretty damn good.
Saturday – Robert Gordon – Bowery Ballroom – Rockabilly boogie yourself
