“Working too hard can give you a heart at ack-ack-ack…” Billy Joel will be doing the working and I will be doing the dancing at his Barclay Center New Year’s Eve gig. The first song of the New Year will be going out live on ABC! I wasn’t crazy over his 12-12-12 performance, but he has been on the money way too often for me to give up the chance to spend NYE with him. My friend Sherry is going with me and she was at the 1999-2000 NYE MSG concert!
Monday – Punch Brothers – Bowery ballroom – Folkies, I caught em at that Town hall concert, not bad.
Monday – Gogol Bordello – T5 – catchy weird gypsy Madonna and Alyson Camus approved. Supposed to kill it live.
Monday – Phish – MSG – Never seen Phish? You better.
Tuesday – Clutch – MHOW – Hard rockers in Brooklyn for NYE? Go figure…
Tuesday – Chris Botti – Blue Note – Jazz great trumpeter, real good when I heard him with Streisand last year.
Tuesday – Andrew W.K. – Irving Plaza – Get wet!!!
Tuesday – The Disco Biscuit – Theater At MSG – Funkiest ham band ever
Friday – Meters – BB Kings – Wow, this line up? Includes P-Funk and the James Brown Experience; this would make a pretty damn good first show of the New Year.
Saturday – Darlene Love – BB Kings – I wonder if she will perform “Christmas”? Just to keep us on our toes.
