David Guetta? I’ve seen him twice. The first time opening for Black Eyed Peas, the only time I’ve seen a DJ out perform a pop band, and the other time at Jingle Ball. Both performances were great. And together they are the reason I am going to Electric Zoo’s EDM festival at Randall’s Island this Saturday. But who else: Bassnectar,; Tiesto, Araabmusik; Boys Noize; A-Traak. Much much much more if you’re going all three days, Friday thru Sunday.
Wednesday – Emili Sande – Summerstage – Did I ever tell you about the time a Bus Driver got lost on the way to Coldplay and I missed Emili opening? Well, there is the chance for all of us to catch up. Plus, Rudimental who I like a lot are opening.
Wednesday – John Mayer – Jones Beach – I wonder why he isn’t playing nyc? The new album kinda sucks but he usually brings it live.
Wednesday – Buster Poindexter – Highline – Hot hot hot no doubt.
Wednesday – Larry Graham And Graham Central Station – You missed Prince at City Winery? Larry Graham is better than Prince is in 2013.
Thursday – The Rides – Iridium – This is the Steve Stills blues band with Kenny Wayne Shepherd I wrote about a coupla months ago. Slightly above average.
Friday – Bat For Lashes – Webster Hall – The new album is pretty good not great though the single “Laura” is great. Is this enough to check out this indie folkie chick? Not my scene but not bad.
Friday – On Da Reggae Tip – Hammerstein Ballroom – Last year it was atrocious, Beenie Man is starring this year.
Friday – Ty Segall – Bowery Ballroom – West Coast indie rocker with cred to burn, his latest album is acoustic. I am not a believer but there is so much stuff out there it is hard to decide whether I’m right or wrong.
Friday – Yacht – MHOW – Superb at DFA’s 12th Anniversary gig, this should be the goods.
Friday – Diarrhea Planet – Mercury Lounge – 1030p show with the So So Glos opening. If Patrick Stickles is in town,I bet he shows.
Sunday – Marc Anthony – Nassau Coliseum – With one of the best albums of the year, the spectacular and brilliant 3.0. If it was closer to town it would be my top pix.
