I hate disagreeing with Helen because she gets so upset but if you love jazz you love live recording. One of the greatest albums ever was Louis Armstrongs Live At the Townhall, two years ago I bough an extended A Love Supreme and was blown away by the live set and Miles Davis live at Carrnegie Hall Black Magus will save your life.
The difference is that between an improvisational art form and one that isn’t.
But even so Cash’s Live At Folson Prison is definitive…
