Girls, Girls, Girls by Helen Bach

People always try to sway me.. mmm chicken, want a bite? Want a hit, this is awesome shit!,

uh no

So it goes with music

I’m gonna love it.

no seriously check it out

give this a go

I think you’d love this.

Here’s the deal, and its no news flash. To be a female singer is a great thing. Congrats. Way to go, Girl Power.

But.. well for me to enjoy girl singers is rare. Hire me an analyst or whatever but seriously its tough. Even those chicks who’s pipes I dig, generally its just a couple songs. The sole exception is Chrissie Hynde who I love on ever level I want to consumer her completely but that’s another tale for the therapist chair.

So now.. lets have a gander in my email.

Iman wants me to review 2 songs both femme vox.

sigh…

You think this music blog gig is all backstage passes and tour buses? It aint.

“Holyhell” by Noun is a nice enough ditty. Seems to be edging its way into a goth type Siouxie vibe but not really. I love the acoustics of it, that sort of hollow punky sound. Makes it sound DIY which holds a soft spot in my heart and well the girl has a pretty voice but…nah. I wouldn’t listen more than the 3 times I did to get this far. Its just not deep enough. I think I like lower voices. I’m no AI judge, but its a bit pitchy and its missing the wow factor…

“I Am Not A Robot” by Marina and The Diamonds Is uh. Its Tori Amos and Kate Bushes love child. I may like this if I were in a different mood. I like the quirky vocals but its a mood thing. I hate the chorus. But I like everything else but no, I’m not in love but there is potential for me to check them out again, when the mood hits. I hope shes pretty, I don’t know. Hmm dark hair too much liner? That’s the image projected.

So lets wrap this up.. Marina you get a B. Nouns I’m gonna give you a C- but wish you all the best.
