After promising to never go to another festival in my life, not even Governor's Ball on Randall's Island while you are at least not stuck for the night in a sleeping bag, I bought a three day VIP pass for the June 7th to 9th long weekend.
Why? In two words: Kanye West.
Here's the foreign policy.
1. While I've seen Kanye on stage quite a few times, I missed the 808s And Heartbreak tour, he didn't tour behind Dark Fantasy and he shared the stage with Hov on the Watch The Throne tour. So I hadn't seen a full set in five years plus.
2. Kanye's 13 minute set at 12-12-12 was a masterpiece.
3. One day passes to GB are not even confirmed yet.
4. The GB line-up is so good a sell out would seem possible as well.
5. The only way to see something on stage at a Fest is to get close and I am sodded if I am gonna camp out so VIP is my best best.
6. And the Super VIP are too pricey at $1500.
7. Aaaaand, since GB might very well sell out, if I don't buy a ticket I will be stuck paying a ticket broker $500 for a one day ordinary admission.
8. I might as well get my monies worth.
9. Plus? I can review it for rock nyc.
10. Since I bought the tix on a plan, $125 a week, it would be painless any way.
So, see you in the front row for Kanye! Just hope it doesn't rain.
