2. Bats – The Joy Formidable – The best rock song of 2013 so far rides wave after wave of drums and smashing orchestral sound to a psychedelic denouement – Grade: A

3. Valentines – Adam Ant – After a fairly disastrous live show last week, the album is pretty good in places, like this well arranged and weird ballad – Grade: B

4. Keep On Running – Spencer Davis Group – English blues pop with an LSD edge. from the 1960s Grade: A

5. Tourist Trap – Bright Eyes – Conor comes off tour and doesn't recognize himself – Grade: A

6. I And I – Bob Dylan – In creation where one's nature neither honors nor obeys – Grade: A+

7. Future Hunters – The Kingsbury Manz – The prog rocking folkies at their poppiest – Grade: A-

8. The Long Player – Teena Marie – Disco strangeness is a sexy scortcher – Grade: B+

9. Tugboat – Galxie 500 – Smart metaphor well used – Grade: B+

10. Julie Ocean – The Undertones – Always on fire, though I remember a Julie who changed it to always a flower… Then she got married… – Grade: A
