I’ve seen Noel Gallagher solo a number of times and I think he is never as good at singing his songs as Liam is. But since it is all we have I guess we’re gonna hafta take it.
Last night Noel played theTeenage Cancer Trust Show at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The setlist was everything you might want to hear but not by whom you might want to hear and the review I read on live4ever.com
Matt Humphrey’s review of the concert is just brilliant. I love his straight ahead, completely uncool, but right on the money take. I love this sorta writing: “After sailing through storming versions of some early Oasis B-sides including ‘Talk Tonight’ and ‘Half The World Away’, we’re now onto the anthems as Noel introduces ‘Cast No Shadow’. If there was one song that was born to be sung with a choir then it’s this one. The “pride” refrain was spine tingling – a ridiculously high note that Noel still hits with ease at the grand old age of 42.” I really admire Matt’s lucidity, how easy it is to read and understand him. It’s what I love about Mary Magpie’s writing as well: you understand what they are saying. My writing can get so dense even I lose track of what my point is.
Anyway, he loved the show and said that along with another one, we may never heard Noel do an Oasis classics performance again. I dunno, I think he’ll do the same show again in new York (or at least HOPE SO)
Till then here is the setlist:
