Hear Ye: 1-4-13

1. Our Song – Taylor Swift – Off the first album, a country romp replete with violins and toe nail painting as TS' and boy finds their song in the magic of a romantic day. It's a shame she can't find this innocence any more and can't fake it either. Red is a terrific album but the first one was a magical thing – Grade: A

2. What A Buzz – Olly Murs – A joyous romp of a love song, all whistling and laughing and the start of a new romance, sort of a modern yet more old fashioned Robbie Williams – Grade: A

3. Pyro – Kings Of Leon – One of their best songs off their last, somewhat underestimated, album – Grade: B+

4. Back Where It All Begins – The Allman Brothers – Masterful nine minute country boogie – Grade: A

5. Picking Up The Pieces – Paloma Faith – I'm trying not to let her name put me off, but it is hard when she sounds like this – Grade: B

6. Everybody Talks – Neon Trees – Bouncy, these kinds are circling the charts like vultures – Grade: B+

7. The Night I Learnt Not To Pray – Iris Dement – Best line is the chorus, "God does what he wants to any way"… oh, and the way she says "shaking". A pretty time devastating song  – Grade: A+

8. Let Us Move On – Dido – I am sure the jokers at Pitchfork love it. I mean, Dido is something but add Lamarr…  – Grade: B-

9. Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)/Sunshine Of My Love – Buddy Guy – Takes on two of his descendants off the new live one – Grade: B+

10. Soulshine – The Allman Brothers – The Warren Haynes masterpiece, first time round "better than sunshine, better than moonshine, damn sure better than rain…" – Grade: A
