Getting ready for Drakes first album I went back to last year’s EP So Far Gone and maybe I underestimated. Trackwise stuff like “The Calm” is almost on a par with a medium level Kid cudi, and his rhymes are smart and he ain’t just a gangsta. It’s heavy shit.
So what’s the problem. There are no great songs here, some really good flows, some ok beats, but no memorable songs.
Also, he doesn’t have a great voice.
But this was a first step and I’m real interested in hearing what he does next.
