I couldn’t give a shit about SXSW -unless you’re in a band it hits me as a long trip for dozens of bands you can see at Mercury Lounge on any given weekend.
But I wish I was there for the Alex Chilton replacing a Big Star set this Saturday. According to Canoe.com:
“Posies Ken Stringfellow and Jon Auer — will serve as a house band for guests such as M. Ward, John Doe, Chris Stamey and R.E.M.’s Mike Mills. Original Big Star bassist Andy Hummel is also expected at the gig.”
Stamey and Mills…. wow!!!
