Liam Gallagher has made only one major mistake since forming Beady Eye, he didn’t play Oasis songs in concert. Big brother Noel taught him the error of his ways and, indeed, Noel’s High Flying Birds outfit out sold beady Eye, though, for my money, I’ll take the hard rocking Liam over the snot faced Noel any day.
Different gear, Still Speeding wasn’t a great album, but it was a good album and it got the dirty job done and Beady Eye would not great on stage but they were much better than Oasis last time I saw them. I felt a little bad for Liam –difficult to do, true. But remember, every single member of Oasis stayed with him, which tells you boatloads about who the good guy in all this is. I want Liam to be happier in his new life and stop wasting his time channeling John Lennon.
And maybe it has finally happened. Beady Eye had announced that they are back in the studio and hard at work on album # 2, dealing with the sophomore jinx with ease since, well, to put it bluntly the last album was an underachiever. They promise the album for some time in 2013 and that’s cool, but here is news that should be at least interesting to New Yorkers, David Sitek of TV On The Radio is doing the production.
What, right? Eh? Sitek is a talented fellow, for his sins he produced the Scarlett Johansen album and Foals album, but both of them are kinda mood albums, and while TVOTR can rock, they can’t rock the same way young Liam can. They aren’t roar of rock and roll Limey style guys.
So at the very least, it should make for a telling second album.
