Active Viewin': Week Of October 15th, 2012

CMJ Music Marathon 2012, October 16th to October 20th, 2012 all over the city, and I will be attending as a member of the press after my co-editor Helen Bach decided I wasn't busy enough and requested a Press Pass and somebody at CMJ bafflingly, though appreciatively, approved.  This is young man's work, the list of bands is ridiculous, and the one I most want to see, Pissed Jeans, I can't make it to. My plan is to spend lunch at concerts and then all day Saturday. Promiscuously covering everything I can catch regardless of buzz or popularity. I will use the limitations I have time wise to cover as much as I possibly can and on the 20th just catch everything I can till CSN.

Monday – Brandy – Best Buy – The teen r&b star grown up, and though I haven't hear her newbie yet, this should be a very, very good show.

Tuesday – Off! – Irving Plaza – Old school LA punk

Wednesday – Fiona Apple – T5 – If she is half as good as she was Governor's Island, this is gonna be huge.

Thursday – Big K.R.I.T. – The Studio At Webster Hall – This should be a perfect venue for one of the better young rappers.

Friday – New Order – Roseland – No guessing how good they will be, but I bet they'll be better than Peter Hook has been.

Saturday – CSN – Beacon Theater – Every chance you get to catch this trio, you should probably take advantage of.

Sunday – The Darkness – T5 – I don't know why these guys are so disliked, 80s style heavy metal.
