Rogue Males Make Waves by Helen Bach

Rogue Wave- Permalight

Zach Rogue (the former Zach Schwartz) has the most unique accent I have ever heard. Clearly evident in every song as the enunciation is so adorable. But wait it says hes from California? What area? What? OK hang on.. I have never heard a California accent as such…hmmm

I love how this release spans different sounds. The opening “Solitary Gun” a hand clapping acoustic leading to “Good Morning ( The Future)” which has a bit of techno drum machine (IMAN! listen up fool).”Sleep Walker” slows it down but in doing so they have combined the acoustic and techno, but slowly.. with a Lennon (not John, but Julian) like pitch. I’m loving the vocals and harmony is beautifully done. OK I’m on a quest now to find where the hell they’re REALLY from.

“We Will Make A Song Destroy” has that 60s rock tin room sound. I hear tambourine! YES! What a unique angle..

At times it seems to go from pop to surf but “Per Angry” is the sweetest song about being angry ever. A true pop song for pops sake. Right down to the “ooohs’ and ‘yeahs’

“All That Remains” is a gorgeous ballad that closes Permalight. This was worth every dime a calm but intelligent indie romp. Abruptly ending and demanding I hit the replay
