One Direction, "Live While We're Young", Video Review

I ABSOLUTELY ADORE ONE DIRECTION.

Teenage fangirling aspect of the video:  WOW… the video is ridiculously fun to watch.  First of all, the guys of 1D are adorable, always.  That's one of their gimmicks.  They're there for girls to swoon over them, and boy do they do that well.  Their smiles are genuine, and they even do the Inbetweeners dance, which I thought was the cutest thing ever.  The best part is when they're on the lake in those gigantic inflatable hampster balls- that looks so fun.  It's one of those things that your heart beats really fast and you're grinning and singing the words really loud (or mouthing them dramatically) while watching the video- you just can't help it.  Something about it just makes me, and countless others, totally melt.

After gaining composure: they're an adequately talented group of young men.  I think the vid is not only their best, but it isn't too cliche.  It'd seem like everything they do would be predictable and lame, but One Direction makes the ordinary extraordinary.  By simply being silly, goofy, and having a sincerely fabulous time, there's a connection there- like they're real people, not just pretty faces.  They have phenomenal singing voices; it's not all fake and autotuned either, because even live, they're incredible.  Whenever you hear just one member singing, it is beautiful.  It gives me chills, each of them solo.  Together?  They create a powerhouse of gorgeous noise.

I used to hate One Direction, too.  Trust me.  All you've got to do is give 'em a chance.  What is there to lose?

Trust me, you're missing out.
