What becomes the band with the album of the year, most? How about a gig at Local 269 on Houston and 2nd street? Exciting stuff, right??? Shake My Head is a thrilling rock and roll album, nothing this year has sounded this good and I can't imagine what will. We interviewed Dan McGee during the summer, and he seemed a little bemused by his standing as a rock and roll icon, but I have no doubt that the moment you find Spider Bags you're addicted.
And to prove my point, I am blowing off Bon Iver at Radio City Music Hall to catch the band at Local 269, where they will be part of the CAVESTOMP RECORDS presents evening of fun and rock and roll on Saturday, September 22nd. Also present are McGee faves the Lime's and, in his opinion the purveyors of the album of the year, the Golden Boys. Though if I am reading this right, they are second on a five band bill, which is insane.
What's also insane is this: despite being told by the band that they would be in town this September (it was initially slated for MHOW), and despite haunting Ticketmaster, I stumbled across the concert when I googled Spider Bags Live in nyc. in desperation! Er, guys, how about informing, not even the press, just friends and lovers?
If you care about rock and roll, this is the concert of the year by a legendary live band. I have yet to catch em live and I am thrilled beyond belief at the opprtunity, though a little scared I am gonna get stuck with 300 when I want 90 minutes.
I went on Local 269's website but couldn't find a price or a link for tix, called the # on the website but it has been disconnected. I found this FB Page: https://www.facebook.com/ITSPRIMITIVE/timeline?filter=2, which helped not at all.
Really, I understand garage, DIY aesthetics but in this day and age there is zero excuse for keeping a concert a secret. I am not even sure I am missing some vital piece of information.
Whatever, I know about it now and so do you and if you miss the greatest (or at least one of the top 5) rock band in the world, don't come whining to me about it.
