I've already seen Bieber in concert three times, the first time his foot was in a cast, and he was fine on all three occasions. But I held off getting a ticket to the November 28th gig at MSG mostly because I wasn't thrilled by Believe. "Boyfriend" is such a great song, and it promises so much, but the album is way too generic to matter much as music.
And I still believe I was right about Believe. But if it doesn't matter as music, it is huge as pop signifier, and the proof is that it is still in Billboard 200's Top 10 months after its release despite having only one hit single. Despite one of the worst prime time specials known to might. Despite an embarrassing Rolling Stone cover story and a reputation as a brat following Justin wherever he goes. A reputation which seems based solely upon the world's refusal to give the kid some breathing room, Bieber matters
Also, simply because it is still selling, Believe has improved in my books. The job of pop music is to be popular, when it succeeds in its primary objective it improves as sound.
So I went to stubhub and forked over double face and I will be checking him out for a 4th time. I also get to see Carly Rae Jepsen and able to figure if she is a one hit wonder.
In the interim, here is Justin's Believe your setlist… looks pretty good to me… Wonder if Sean Kingston will show for "Eenie Meenie".
