Run of Run DMC's son rapper Diggy Simmons, wants you to know first and foremost that, you know, don't question his blackness just because his daddy is famous. After all, Diggy is a middle son and therefore an overachiever.So we won't.
And if Simmons Junior is a touch on the wimpy side let's give him his props this way: what do you expect from a kid whose father is a Reverend: rather him worry out what it means to follow rap and be the son of a legend then to pretend to a street cred he just doesn't have.
So what does that leave? Diggy's first album standing on its own two feet and, yup, it does so just fine. A pop soul album with one smart as a whip rap after another and hooks a-plenty. And if you wanna hear it do this: go to Best Buy on 44th street for his headlining turn on August 25th!
