Shuffle Em Up, And hey, Some Country Here!!!

Gold Mind Gutted – Bright Eyes – Off the Easy/Lucky/Free EP and not bad but not prime. Something about drugs and the fear of deathwith a very strong intsrumental chorus.

All You Need Is Me – Morrissey – There are only two kinds of people in this world: those who worship Morrissey and everybody else. This guy is the greatest doomed romantic and another rock strum classic with an edge of sarcasm a mile wide. Great song.

Well, Whatever – The Kingsley Manx – Wow -no keybs??? Nessing, I have to send you this, you’d love it.

Hell Breaks Lose (feat. Dr. Dre) – Eminem – Whatever you wanna say about Jay-Z at least he always keeps his eye on the ball and Eminem and Dre dropped the ball. From last year and a great single off an album I’m apparently the only person who loved.

Junco Partner – The Clash – Another drug song, pretty great as well.

Check Yes Or No – George Strait – This guy is prolly the best country songwriter of his generation but he he is a complete asshole and a drag live and this is still a real good song.

Desperados Under The Ives – Warren Zevon – You know how Helen feels about Strummer? That’s how I feel about Zevon. Ages ago Robert Nevin and I had our socks blown off at a Zevon solo concert. This song is the collest thing about CALI ever -hysterically funny, completely beautiful. What a terrible loss when he died… I gotta write a full post on this guy.

The Big Light (Live) – Elvis Costello – I loved the original off King Of America (one of my fave EC albums) and this rave up is even better. Didn’t Johnny Cash cover it? “The hangover this morning had a personality” is an EC classic one liner…

You! Me! Dancing! – Los Campesinos – Thedaytrotter session and those blokes at daytrotter did a great job of capturing every inch of acoustic weirdness.

Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have – Panic At The Disco – Were these guys emo or just feverish? Either way it stands up years later.

S.T.P. (Live) – Sublime – Like punk two tone on… well, we know what it was on but it smells like ganj anyway.

Chicago Style – Bob Hope – Hope had a way with novelty songs like no one else. The material sucks and he still makes it breath.

5 Months Too Long – Caroline Smith And the Goodnight Sleeps – Wheels, start stalking!!

A Horse IS Not A home – Miike Snow – Is a band, a great electronic band that gets rock.

Blessed Assurance – Iris Dement – She’s like a character froma Steinbeck novel with the dustbowl in her voice and the holy ghost in her soul.

Skip A Rope – George Jones – How does he do it? Even a piece of crap like this sounds great.

For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her – Simon and Garfunkle – I always thought the S&G harmonies were really just the G factor. Listening to this so many years later, maybe I was wrong.

Howling At the Moon – George Jones – If you can find this album, GJ salutes Hank Williams, don’t even think and buy it. Every song is great and this is as great as country can get.
