If you ain't got the do-re-mi boys, or even if you do, get to Summer Stage at 7pm on Sunday for a celebration by Arlo and his family for his father Woody Guthrie on the occasion of what would have been Woody's 100th birthday. I used to go see Arlo with Pete Seeger when he'd play those Thanksgiving gigs at Carnegie Hall and I expect some great things for his Daddy's birthday. And it's free (but get there early!)
Monday – Dirty Projectors – MHOW – the last I saw DP here, Tune-Yards opened and the rest is history. This time it is Dustin Wong, the Hawaiian experimental guitarist whose new album is very good. The moral: get there early. It is also sold out, but DP are streaming their sets on Bowery Presents.
Tuesday – Neon Trees – Webster Hall – Nobody was stabbed in the writing of this blurb
Wednesday – Outernationals – Bowery Electric – Top punk band but unfortunately a 1030p show! Too late for a weeknight.
Thursday – The English Beat – The Bell House – Helen likes them more than me but I like them fine and when they start nailing their hits, undeniable.
Friday – 10cc – The Concert Hall – The great pop group reunites for a one off… unmissable really.
Saturday – Girl In A Coma – Right now, their cover of "Heatwave" is my own personal summer song.
