More Amor for Ryan Ross

A band called More Amor released a music video for their song “Beach Bones”.  Normally, I’d ignore it because I have no idea who More Amor is. However, I saw the words “ft. Ryan Ross” and fan girled for a little bit before I hit the “play” button.  I hadn’t heard anything from Ryan Ross since The Young Veins, and I miss his quirky lyrics and gorgeous voice.  I’d love to hear something new for him, so maybe this is a hint at the fact that he may be making new music soon.

The song “Beach Bones” was really not that great.  It was relatively boring; there was no hook or anything that made it unique.  It’s pretty catchy though, and it’s a stereotypical summer song.  It doesn’t stand out to me, but it would be good to put on a playlist for a party. Ryan’s voice throughout the song is most certainly a redeeming factor.  His tone and quality is beautiful, and I love how it blends with the song as a whole, and the other singer’s voice.  The balance is what kept me listening; it was a fabulous idea to collab with Ross.

Ryan being in the music video was pretty much the only thing that made it captivating.  It’s the absolute epitome of the summer music video- a fair on the boardwalk, walking on the beach, etc etc.  It’s so overdone it’s almost a joke.  Only Ross’ fairly Johnny Depp-esque appearance, along with his lovely smile, kept me interested.

What a mediocre song and video; it’s disappointing.  Luckily, Ryan Ross was involved, making itinfinitely better
