Eva Simons At Prudential Center, Friday, June 28th, 2012, Reviewed

There must be some psycho-sexual reason why the Netherlands have brought forth so many chick pop singers with ace dance pedigrees and a reluctance to dress sexy. At Prudential Center, Eva Simons brought her back up tapes and her beats, put on a tartan skirt and danced from one end of the stage as she followed up her guest appearance on LMFAO's "Best Night", following in the footsteps of fellow Northern star Sidney Samson

For Eva, this means rolling out two more of her  guest appearance. Firstly the disco rebirth, Afrojack's "Take Over Control", an energizer bunny of a track, which loops and loops as the band emphatic masochistic chant becomes black and white block letters and the audience screams along along.

And then the penultimate song of the set, the hard and drastic Robyn wannabe "I Don't Like You", with a searing synth line and high vocals, and Eva capturing lightning in a bottle and the mix going very , very House. In the age of dubstep, Eva is a little old fashioned but if you are more interested in songs than beats, House is a better place for you and the audience agreed as they dance wildly to every song. Though she doesn't yet have an album together, there was something very very next big thing about the woman.

Eva is about to break very big Stateside with her featured roll in Will I Am's soon to be classic "This Is Love". "This Is Love" is a full blown dance ballad and already # 1 in the UK. The video was shown between sets on Friday, and blew me away. SO did Eva. From Amsterdam, Eva is (not musically) a Nicki Minaj type team player position herself as a solo artist.

In a short set, Simons made a real impression: the 28 year old, singing to tapes and tapes, still managed tomore than a reworked remodeled puppet on a string, perhaps that is why the Netherlands seems so important to the scene. They create their own beats! Pretty soon, she will be headlining  T5 and working with David Guetta.
