I probably knock Coldplay more than they deserve. They are such public school nitwits, so smug in their false humility. They're the Uriah Heep of rock and roll: ever so 'umble. While all the time seething with ego and ambition.
Musically, they peaked with Vida but I don't hate Xyloto with the singleminded fury I did when it was first released. Indeed, I'd give the former a "B" and the latter a "C+". And I am going to see em in early July so I may be brought all the rest of the way around after their very good mini-set at the Amnesty gig earlier this year.
Nothing will turn me around less than this egotistical blather Contact News quoted Chris saying in the Sydney Morning Herald: ""You can very easily become infected by the minority negative opinion.'I was talking to my dad about Manchester United — the most popular football team in the world — and when they show up at West Ham they get booed. I was thinking, 'Well, it's the same for us… When everybody is singing 'Paradise' at the moment it makes me feel so alive and happy. There comes a point where you just accept that whatever you do, someone will like or hate it, so it's extremely liberating.
''We are incredibly blessed that we are — 12 years in — allowed to make whatever we want to make. That's extraordinary. Even in the film world you can't do that. Only a few people can do that.''
''Basically, we set out with two goals: To either make it big in America or sleep with the sisters from The Corrs.''
He added: ''I'm always looking at Kanye West and he's moving so fast, doing such amazing work that I want to keep chasing him for a while. I don't want to give up just yet.''
How much love does this ass want? The critics are overwhelming positive about the unbearable, overblown rock star. Is nobody allowed to dislike him without him going into a funk? I can't stomach that sort of twaddle, it is worse than his music.
