Do It Again For Jeffery – Kaleidoscope Yet another garage psych pop masterpiece, this one is British.
Do The Funky Chicken – Rufus Thomas-Seems at first like a novelty, but it’s really um…funky
Do Unto Others – Sandy Salisbury-A Curt Boettcher production makes it’s way in here, Have I ever mentioned he was a genius? This is a power pop tour-de-force, and the term power pop had’nt even been coined yet. File under ‘ahead of the curve”.
Do Your Thing – The Watts 103rd St. Rhythm Band-Somebody told me this is in “Boogie Nights” but it’s been forever since I saw that.
Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is – Chicago Transit Authority-It’s great, so I just tip my hat to it.
Dois Mil E Um – Os Mutantes-I have heard a lot about The Mutantes, but this is the first time I’m actually checking them out properly. It’s like being at a Mexican restaurant before the acid kicks in. Definitely want to hear more.
Don’t Cry Daddy – Elvis Presley-This has that Memphis sessions feel to it, cut from the same cloth as “In The Ghetto” and “Suspicious Minds”. I would say it’s amazing but I would be selling it short.
Don’t Forget To Remember – Bee Gees-This is without Robin, and it shows. It’s good and all but you can hear where his harmonies would have gone and it’s like a gaping hole.
Don’t Give In To Him – Gary Puckett & The Union Gap-Yeah, I dunno. Even this guys best stuff was kinda vanilla.
Don’t Let Him Take Your Love From Me – Four Tops-Turns out 1969 was a good year for soul. I know I’ve said that, but it bears repeating. Also , I’m out of adjectives towards describing these tracks and how great they are.
Don’t Let Me Down – The Beatles-bluesy, riffy, heavy on the skins from Ringo.
Don’t Let The Joneses Get You Down – The Temptations-Even a track like this that’s not one of their best is overflowing with vocal sweetness and soul power.
Down By The River – Neil Young/Crazy Horse-Neil shows off his heavy side.
Down On The Corner – Creedence Clearwater Revival-Nine top ten singles within an approximate two year span. A simply astonishing run.
E.S.P. – Giant Crab- OK this is way obscure. Sounds like West Coast garage psych.
