I have seen Alexisonfire and they weren’t that good
I actually was psyched to see them at Warped Tour last summer but only because I thought they were Asking Alexandria.
Now comes word that there was a free concert in Yaletown Vancouver that was halted do to surging crowds crashing down barricades.
Reports show the band played for only 10 seconds.
Those of you who have attended the ‘general admission’ shows know the drill. Get caught up in it and you literally get taken wherever the crowd flows. It can be really scary it can be very painful and as I wrote about months ago regarding this at a Clash show, it can really ruin an entire event.
99% of shows I attend are in this forum. I have seen fat lazy bouncers watching as crowd swells and pulls have bounced around many a kid. More interested in keeping the crowd surfers under control then realizing the pressure surge from the back. There are some clubs that prepare for this, have security in the crowd to push back or create ‘rows’ but really there is no one to blame but ourselves for these events. Pushing into the person in front of you won’t get you a better view but it can harm them and those with the domino effect in front of them.
There has got to be a better way to handle this. Craig Owens had his audience sit on the floor and as repulsed as I was at the thought of it, every kid there got a nice view and that ‘intimate’ experience and no one was crushed.
Age old problem with no solutions in site. Hope everyone heals quick
