Alyson saw Lana Del Rey months ago and quite liked her. Me? I even liked her SNL appearance. So assume rock nyc is biased and check Lana out at Irving Plaza on Sunday. At the very worst, the songs are gonna kill you and you know the album so well, you can singalong!
Monday – Emili Sande – Bowery Ballroom – UK soulstress cum folkie has been on the UK charts all year. Trust me, they don't get this close to her in London.
Tuesday – Patti Lupone – 50 Below – I saw the woman who invented Evita at a one woman Broadway show years ago and a man in the adueince had a heart attack and died halfway thru the second song. Patti comes out a little later and says: "We're gonna start over". Pause. "He'd have wanted it that way, right?"
Wednesday – Larry Graham And the Grand Graham Railroad – Beekman Beer Garden – Last time I saw him, I left believing I'd seen the best bassist alive. Maybe ever.
Thursday – Jayne Country And The Electric Chairs – Bowery Electric – If there weren't four bands on the bill, I'd have gone.
Friday – The Cult – T5 – And Against Me!!!
Saturday – Gwar – Iring Plaza – Always good for something.
