The Summer Set released a music video for their new tune, "Mannequin". I felt as though I'd be disappointed and that it would be generic and boring. I had no idea what to expect from the tune, so I just braced myself.
The second it started, I was in love. Brian's voice has change subtly but enough to make a real difference. I love it way more than the way it was on the last record. His voice is so much stronger. This is really nice to hear because I feel as though he's reached his full potential.
The chorus is absolutely brilliant. A change in tempo, a group anthem feel, and absolutely great lyrics make it one of the strongest choruses in TSS' discography. I can just imagine them performing this tune live and having this be the crowd pleaser. It ties the song together and makes it totally unique. The way that the guitars, bass, and drums mesh together make me smile. It feels effortless but still makes an impression.
I love the music video. It shows the band being silly and having fun. I'm a big fan of music videos that show off the band's personality and how they interact with one another. To see them just being themselves is fun to watch because I felt as though I got a little bit of insight into what it's like for them on the road. The concert shots were powerful; seeing them perform even recorded was exhilarating.
This is one of The Summer Set's greatest songs
