American Idol: Group Auditions by Mary Magpie

Group auditions are always my favourite part of the season, and this one was interesting to say the least. A few sang the same songs, more than a few had power-hungry leaders, and the majority of them were stressed out. 71 people made it through, and the others just didn’t cut it. Some people that the judges voted off were the ones who were the weakest in their groups. To me, those who were jerks should’ve been voted off, people don’t need their annoyance. I certainly would not want to be on American Idol during group week.

I always find it interesting to hear the interpretation of others for songs such as “Bad Romance”. Last nights show proved to me that some interpretations are best left in private.

I never really understood the group hugging tears of joy. Personally, if I were participating in this event, I would want everyone sent home. This is a competition not group therapy. Yet the contestants cheer (and tear) each other on.  Strange don’t you think?
