When Just One Song Changes A Bands Life

Readying myself for the Red Hot Chili Pepper's concert at Prudential, I was listening to their music and found my self at "Give It Away". For RHCP life occured in two parts, before and after "Give It Away". This is probably true of many, although not all, succesful bands. It isn't true of Pink Floyd, maybe because they were such an album band that "Pipers" to "Darkside most more an evo than a revo -lution.

Still, it happens often enough…

She loves You – The Beatles – More in the UK but this post-Please Please Me trope and "yeah yeah yeahs" changed their lives.

Satisfaction – The Rolling Stones – Pulled them out of the Beatles shadow

Your Song – Elton John – Composurely ballad had people rethinking a piano man

Born To Run – Bruce Springsteen – I always thought it was the Roy Orbinson reference that did it.

Heart Of Glass – Blondie – Defined New Wave and then blasted them into the stratosphere

Hard Knock Life – Jay-Z – Yup,  if there had been  no Annie" and Jigga's crossover appeal  would have taken a lot longer.

Like A rolling Stone – Bob Dylan – Sure, he was a folk icon before. This made him a rock star.

Alison – Elvis Costello – After years of scuffling, made him an overnight sensation.

Love Story – Taylor – I was an album and a Christmas deep when this made her the biggest star on earth. By the way, I called it the very first time I heard it.

Rolling In The Deep – Adele – Heralded 21 and that was that.
