Beyonce Wins Black Journalism Award, Black Journalists Should Be Very Annoyed

I don't hate Beyonce at all. Indeed, I had her last album in my top 5 of 2011. But I consider her a stilted prefab creation and any seriousness she has as a wife, mother, artist, is really hard to see.

She isn't a writer, she certainly isn't as good a journalist as the majority of professional Black Journalists. Her winning first price in "Arts And Entertainment" category of the New York Association Of Black Journalists is ridiculous. If not, indeed a simple lie.

At first I thought Beyonce probably had her Essence Magazine article "Eat, Play, Love" ghosted. But since it is as uninspired dribble as the articles name, maybe Beyonce did write it herself.

here is an excerpt:

"I had talked about taking a vacation before, but always ended up in the studio after two weeks, so no one believed me. This time, though, I was serious. I was going to give myself a year to do the things I never get to do. Simple things like play with my nephew, pick him up from school, visit museums, go to concerts, see some Broadway shows, learn to cook a meal and spend time with my husband… Yes, I needed some relaxation, but I wanted inspiration too, from regular everyday things. They did not have to be over-the-top productions. "

Does anybody believe for one moment if the writer was anybody but Beyonce it would be first price for anything better than most asinine? It is a really stupid article by an amazingly shallow woman. But worse than that, it removes an award that belonged to somebody else, somebody who could have actually used it.

The New York Association of Black Journalists should be thoroughly ashamed of this PR hungry grab.
