Motion City Soundtrack released a tune called "True Romance" and I was so looking forward to loving it. I eagerly clicked the link and turned up the volume. I waited and waited for the hook, the thing that would make me fall in love, like every other MCS song. However, that moment never came.
I was dissatisfied by the tune. It's generic and boring, and doesn't have anything unique about it. There's no really clever lyric, no killer riff, no part of it that drew me in and made me want to keep listening. It had a facade of greatness at the beginning with a quick-fix sort of beat, but then it all went downhill. The song is very repetitive and simply gets annoying. There's not a single redeeming quality, making it by far the most mediocre song that Motion City Soundtrack has ever made.
I am disappointed. Hopefully the next release will be decent.
