How can a movie as bad as "The Truman Show" have influenced movies, genre, TV programs, the world. And now even horror movies.
"Cabin In The Woods" has 5 teens off for a weekend alone, miles from nowhere, off the GPS, in a cabin, in a horror movie and there will be blood.. But with a wrinkle they are being watched on closed circuit TV and shown to, well, somebody or other for some reason or the others. The show is igged for them to die, just not in which order, except the virgin dies last.
It is an amusing, though not scary premise. And some stuf is really clever: they wan a couple in the woods to make out, so they raise the heat and turn on the theromines…
Chris Hemsworth is the jock, a coupla years before his Thor hit (it has been stuck on the shelf) and the rest of the teens are kinda interchangeable. But man is there a lot of blood and guts and it all works really, really well…. except a) it isn't scary and b) it is hard to really give a toss about any one. Still, much better to the very similar "The Hunger Games" Ss good but nothing special.
The music is awesome, all semi-popuar folks like Asher Roth and Ladyhawke (and is that Iggy??). Plus a killer Nine Inch Nails oldie to top it all off.
Movie: B+
Music: B+
