Prinzhorn Dance School Are Damned Damned Damned

Prinzhorn Dance School, frontier UK new art school mood pervuyers of quirky, austere songs are following their pretty damn good (though you wouldn't know it from me, I missed the thing) second album Clay Class. The press release claim it is a mix of the Breeders and the XX -translation: the bass is prominent for such a lo-fi effort.

Which leads us to the reason for this post. Tobin(Prinz) and Suzi (Horn), named after a psychaitrist who collected art by the mentally ill, perform a song by the formerly Damned Brian James, "Green Worms" . In return brian covered their "Usurper".

"Green Worms" is a blues rock work out and there is an odd blues background to Prinzhorn Dance School, seemingly our of place on this fractured, disturbed band. The album it's on, Brian James Gang 2010 self-titled effort is really, really excellent by the way and includes a must hear duet with Poly Styrine.

One more thing, I can hear what people like about Clay Class, but it is a downer in extremis. The single release "I Want You" has the worst song name in history, couldn't they think of anything better? And the song is all handpicled guitar notes and harmonies. Definably an acquired taste.
