Brian Johnson of AC/DC sounding like the voice of sanity talking out against rock stars abusing their positions to proselytize from way on high. Speaking to the Melbourne Sun, Johnson said: “When I was a working man I didn’t want to go to a concert for some bastard to talk down to me that I should be thinking of some kid in Africa. I’m sorry mate, do it yourself, spend some of your own money and get it done. It just makes me angry. I become all tyrannical. Do a charity gig, fair enough, but not on worldwide television.I do it myself, I don’t tell everybody I’m doing it,” Johnson said. “I don’t tell everybody they should give money – they can’t afford it.”
This is all a little Santa Clausey -the way poor families who can’t afford to buy huge gifts for their children are left to explain why Santa Clause doesn’t really hate them but missed their home this Christmas.
It’s the same deal. Why are people who can’t afford it being guilted by Bono and their elk to give to children when they can’t give to their own. It’s a con game and a joke.
Perhaps instead of throwing tens of millions at a country with no economy, people might want to think of a betetr way to give support. Or is that too much like thinking for yourself.
